Eighth-graders begin course selection for high school on Nov. 18, 19, and 20

Livingston Independent School District Career and Technical Education Director Jeff Eichman welcomed parents of 8th-grade students to the CTE Spotlight meeting on Monday, Nov 10. Parents received an overview of the required 9th-grade core courses, as well as the endorsement options and CTE programs of study. The eighth-grade students and parents were able to view the handouts listing the Livingston High School electives that students may request during their course selection process on November 18, 19, and 20.
Mrs. Diane Houston, LHS Lead Academic Advisor, shared how the academic advising department strives to meet student requests. It will be important for students to know which endorsement area they are interested in before they select their courses. They must also decide whether they are interested in honors or regular classes, whether they prefer to take dual credit classes, and whether they would like to enroll in PE, athletics, or JROTC. The visitors were able to visit CTE classes where LHS students and teachers were on hand to share information and demonstrations about courses in many areas, including health science, business, criminal justice, law enforcement, yearbook, audio-visual, welding, animal science, culinary arts, cosmetology, and robotics.
