• Contact the school nurse, counselor, or principal.
• The designee should make a telephone report to the appropriate law enforcement agency and Child Protective Services (1-800-252-5400).
• If physical abuse is suspected and a nurse is unable to examine and refer the child within one hour of discovery, have the principal or counselor immediately call the School Resource Office (327-3117) and Child Protective Services (1-800-252-5400) so that these agencies may begin investigations while the child is still in school.
• Stay with the child until law enforcement officials arrive.
