Brianna Ellis, Lynn Galbreath, and Melanie Zuniga's Junior Division group website, "Loving in Color: Miscegenation vs The Supreme Court," competed against approximately 100 entries and was recognized as a finalist (in the top 10) at the National History Day Contest held June 9-12 in College Park, Maryland. In addition, Kristina Miller was nominated as Texas Affiliate Junior Division Teacher of the Year and participated in the NHD Teacher of the Year category. The NHD contest has students select a topic that aligns with the annual theme, research the topic, and create a project that showcases their historical argument and the conclusions they have drawn. Through this process, students develop skills in communication, project management, and historical thinking. Mrs Miller is grateful for the support of the school and district administration and the ongoing encouragement and support from the LISD school board.
